WHAT IS FINE ART RELATIONSHIP PHOTOGRAPHY?
What custom photography ultimately is all about is choice and experience.
Custom photography is about photographing your family by giving you devoted one-on-one attention without the worry of who is next ‘in line’ or the feeling of a crowded portrait studio.
Custom photographers are also known as boutique studios, offering a range of products and unparalleled service.
The process of taking pictures has become exceedingly easy but few are considered fine art. A fine art portrait is a cut above and begins with artistic vision as expressed in the creative choice of the portrait artist; it is technically excellent and provides the viewer with enjoyment of the artwork that expresses emotion.
What this means to us is that we create portraits of those you love the most in a way that is the highest caliber, not just in the areas of being technically proficient but in how it is printed and then displayed in your home, and most importantly how the emotions are captured and portrayed in the portrait of your family.
WHAT'S ONE OF THE BEST REASONS TO HAVE MY CHILDREN PHOTOGRAPHED NOW?
We feel the greatest gift you can bestow upon your children, besides raising them well, is a glimpse into the unconditional love that you have for them. Think back to when you were a child and the memories you have. Now, how many of those memories are documented? So much of our childhood is lost because of a lack of a visual record to stimulate the emotions we felt when we were kids.
What child doesn't love to look at images? And as your child looks at our photography, we want it to be a reminder of how much they are loved.
So we feel the number one reason that you should have family portraits displayed on your walls is because it will show your children how loved they are, not just at the moment the portraits are taken, but over and over throughout their lives -- really, every time they look at the portraits, because the memories of your love for them will be relived over and over again.
But a close second is the effect this all has on your child.
Did you know that a recent study revealed that photography that had been printed boosted children's self esteem by 37%?!!

WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE SHOULD I EXPECT?
Throughout our time together with you, we want the experience to be the very best photography experience you have ever had — from start to finish! We specialize in portraiture mixed with vibrant and artistic imagery, allowing us to offer an experience and quality level that is unmatched by any portrait photography studio in our area.
Joriana and I love to work with clients who treasure their family and want to celebrate those relationships every day!
I WANT PORTRAITS...BUT I FEEL AWKWARD IN FRONT OF A CAMERA
You love the photos that you see here – but you’re worried that we couldn’t possibly get photographs like this of you because you’re not “photogenic enough” or feel like you need to make some drastic change in yourself first. We know you’re worried about the way you’ll look. Lots of people have this worry, including the people you see in our portfolio here!
Joriana and I will put you at ease so you can be yourself in front of the camera. By the end of our time together, you will realize you genuinely had fun — and when you look back on that happy day, the memories will feel warm and make you smile. When you think back, you will remember that the world melted away and the only thing that mattered were the ones you love the most. At the end of a long hard day, you’ll sit down on your couch, look up at your walls and smile. The Wall Art you see will bring back the sound of laughter and remind you of how much you enjoy just being a family.
Don’t miss this opportunity to have beautiful family portraits! We'll make sure you're relaxed and having fun!
WHAT STYLE OF PHOTOGRAPHY DO YOU USE WHEN WORKING WITH KIDS?
We use a documentary style of photography, letting your children just be themselves. Kids will be kids and we understand that they will have moments of imperfection (just like us) and that’s OK! We’re there to make them (and you) feel as comfortable as possible so we can capture their unique personality. We are patient and don’t mind waiting to get that perfect shot. We will pose some shots at your request, but will mainly just shoot and capture those moments that happen naturally. We feel that not using unnatural props or stiff formal poses is a more honest means of capturing who your child really is.
WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE WALL ART?
Because you love your family and realize that nothing can bring you more joy than showcasing the love you share as a family displayed as artwork on the walls of your home.
We find the really good moments to be too large to absorb and process while they’re actually happening.
Wall Art lets you surround myself with those beautiful times so that, little by little, you can savor every part of it. We want to document the most magnificent and genuine version of your children so that throughout your life, you can glance up to the Wall Collections throughout your home and have your spirits lifted.
CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT YOUR PROCESS FOR CREATING PORTRAITS?
Your experience with Ever After Portraits begins with an over-the-phone planning session. Our no-stress process makes sure you not only enjoy yourself every step of the way, but get the photos you’ve ALWAYS wanted.
First, we’ll ask you to walk through your home and look for any space you’d like to decorate with artwork from our session together. So that we can create designs for you, we will ask you to take iPhone pictures of any considered spaces and text or email them to us.
Once we receive your pictures, we will create custom wall concepts. Wall display ideas will be digitally infused on the pictures of your actual walls so you can get a visual of exactly what it would look like hanging in your home!
Our Portrait Sessions focus on Heirloom Wall Art and include a complimentary online design session, where you’ll see what different prints and sizes of YOUR images look like on YOUR walls. (It’s the easiest way to “try before you buy” and make sure you’ll LOVE the outcome!
Once you narrow down the choices we provide to the concept you love the best, we’ll be in the best position to discuss what everyone is going to wear. We will even send visual clothing suggestions to take the stress out of making sure that everyone looks effortlessly beautiful, in clothing that compliments each family member.
WHY DO YOU ASK SO MANY QUESTIONS DURING YOUR CONSULT?
In order to create something that is worthy to be displayed on the walls of your home, we want to know you and what’s important to you. So after you book your session, we will style your portrait session together during a Design Session in person or by phone. During that time, we will discuss who is being photographed in each session, how many rooms you want to create artwork for, as well as your decorating and personal clothing style. We will offer personal assistance with what to wear and complementary color selections, and help guide you on what you want to do with the images. Our process is designed to customize the Wall Art to your taste.
WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT THE PRODUCTS YOU OFFER?
Come see our museum quality products that stand the test of time — enjoyed during your lifetime, and then treasured by those that remain as they sit in a room with those images, as they bring people into their own home and show off the legacy of their family, as they look through albums with their children. These products will remain in your family for generations.
CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE PORTRAIT SESSION?
At the time of your Portrait Session, you will be given individual attention for typically an hour to capture a wide range of expressions. We go out of our way to make sure that everyone is comfortable and relaxed. Typical studio sessions can be overwhelming and intimidating for some, but our sessions let your family be who they are with no pressure. This experience results in images that are candid, timeless and relaxed, with a session that is individually tailored to each and every client.
CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT YOUR STUDIO?

Our Indoor Studio is fully equipped. Our Outdoor Studio has several features including a stream, large and small pond, bridge, vintage truck, barn, fence, wildflower meadow, and a variety of couches we can pull out that will be styled to work with your decor. New in 2015 is our pier, perfect for family images over the water.
AT WHAT LOCATIONS CAN WE HAVE OUR PORTRAIT SESSION?
We will discuss the location of your session at your Design Session. There are several options for location.

Your Home: If your home or vacation home has special significance to you, have the portraits created inside your house or in your yard. It will add a sentimental depth to your portraits, a depth not present in portraits created elsewhere.
We can preview your home and let you know what we think. Your entire yard or house will not show in the portrait and may work well in spite of some imperfections. We are very good at finding angles that make a home look beautiful while not showing spots that don’t look as good.
Portraiture on location throughout the D.C. Metro area can feature stunning views and natural scenery such as Meadowlark Gardens, The Tidal Basin, National Gallery of Art, U.S. Botanic Gardens, just to name a few.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR THE PORTRAIT SESSION?
That's a frequent concern, and we understand. It's probably best to wait until your Design Session to choose the color and style of the clothing. We will have suggestions and assistance to give you. The formality of the clothing is up to you. Most of our clients choose relaxed, somewhat informal, clothing because that is the feeling they want their portraits to have.
CAN WE INCLUDE OUR DOG?
Yes, you can. We enjoy including pets, especially dogs. It will help, not hurt, the portrait! We will spend 15 minutes on images with your pet, and then ask that someone be available to take care of it during the remainder of your session.
WOULD YOU SHARE YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A PHOTOGRAPHER?
The clients we have the pleasure to work with are intelligent, accomplished people that have big hearts. Family is the most important thing to them! They commission Joriana and I to create art of their family because they value what we value: Love, family and relationships. We feel so fortunate to work with such wonderful people!
DO I HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT? CAN'T I JUST WALK IN?
Appointments are required. We do not accept walk-ins.
DO I HAVE TO PAY IN ADVANCE TO SECURE MY SESSION?
A session fee must be paid in advance to secure your session date and time.
HOW LONG DOES A PORTRAIT SESSION TAKE?
A Family Portrait Session is generally no more than 1 hour, however we block off 1.5 hours on our calendar. While we don't photograph the whole time, time is allowed so as not to feel rushed.
WHEN SHOULD I PLAN TO ARRIVE?
We ask that you be sure to arrive on time for your Portrait Session.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM LATE?
All sessions begin at the scheduled time, so please arrive on time. We respect the next client’s time so we are are unable to accommodate late arrivals.
I WANT OUTDOOR PORTRAITS. WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS POOR?
In case of inclement weather, we will contact you and reschedule the session.
While it’s natural to worry, the weather isn’t as a big a concern as one would think. Cloudy skies make for the best lighting, and in case of rain during your session, we’ll have allowed extra time in the schedule so that we can take a break and start again as soon as it has stopped. (We have ways of dealing with wet ground.) Also, we will ask you before the day of your session whether you would prefer to reschedule if it rains steadily or if the portrait has to be done on that day, as in the case of a multi-family gathering. In this situation you will pick an indoor location as a backup.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR FOR OUTDOOR PORTRAITS?
We recommend late Spring, early Summer, or Fall. Winter is not a good time for outdoor portraits because the trees are bare and there is very little color outdoors. However, winter is the perfect time for studio portraits!
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY FOR OUTDOOR PORTRAITS?
Natural lighting creates the beauty in timeless portraiture and the best time of day is early in the morning or one hour before sunset. Please allow ample time for preparation at our exclusively selected location.
WHAT IF A FAMILY MEMBER IS SICK THE DAY OF THE SESSION?
If a family member is not feeling well (even the slightest bit under the weather), please reschedule. We want to keep the studio as germ free as possible.
WHO CAN COME WITH US ON THE DAY OF OUR SESSION?
It is best to only bring the persons being photographed to your session. If it's a Senior Session, teens may bring a parent. No cameras other than our own are allowed during the session. Many of us already feel as if a spotlight is on us when we are being photographed and there is no benefit to increasing the feeling with knowledge that someone is “watching” you. The exception would be someone to watch small children.
WHAT IS YOUR RESCHEDULING POLICY?
PORTRAIT SESSION RESCHEDULING POLICY: As a professional photographer, and in order to give you the best, most relaxed session possible, Ever After Portraits limits the number of sessions that we photograph. That way, our attention is totally focused on you and your experience. Because reserving your date requires Ever After Portraits to turn away other business, we reserve the right to charge a $100 fee to change your date.
If you have extenuating circumstances, we will work with you to reschedule one time at no additional charge. We understand that emergencies do occur, so we allot one emergency reschedule per session. Any further cancellation will result in forfeiture of that session and of the Reservation Fee. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your scheduled session, and no contact has been made with the studio, you will lose your scheduled time, and your Reservation Fee will be used to compensate the photographers for their time.
We reserve the right to reschedule any session due to photographer illness, personal emergency, or inclement weather. If a session cannot be rescheduled due to photographer’s cancellation, we will refund your session fee.
LIMITED EDITION RESCHEDULING POLICY: As long as we get notice that you need to reschedule, we will allow you to swap your session for a session on a different Limited Edition date -- with the understanding that it will be a different theme on that date.
DURING THE SESSION, CAN I TAKE PHOTOS WITH MY IPHONE TO SHARE WITH MY FRIENDS?
Please do not. No cameras, including cell phone cameras, are allowed in the studio.
CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE ORDERING SESSION?
An Ordering Session typically takes place in our studio 2 to 3 weeks after your Portrait Session. One of our specialties is offering custom Wall Art displays in either traditional or more contemporary finishes. Our special design software will enable you to visualize your images in a display so you can know exactly how everything will look before you purchase at your Ordering Session. This takes the guesswork out of having to figure out where to hang your images or what to hang them with. While we do not require any minimum print order, what we offer a luxury service and it’s not in everyone’s budget.
CAN I VIEW THE IMAGES ONLINE TO ORDER?
No. Your images are only available to view on our 72-inch screen, for the highest quality viewing. We don’t do online viewing.
DO YOU OFFER DIGITALS?
We do! Please understand though, digital versions of what we create are a product that can be purchased separately at your ordering session and are not included with the session fee.
You see, we feel that Art we create isn't truly finished until it's printed -- and we want to create art that is worthy of and meant to be displayed.
So, yes, digital files are available for purchase and they can even be earned as a complimentary gift with the purchase of wall art!
Honestly though, once my clients see the beautiful wall art, albums, and other products available, they realize that what they really want is a way to display and share their images, not just digital files which will get lost on a hard drive somewhere.
Our typical client values quality artwork to display and enjoy every day, and pass down to your children. That's why we have gone to great lengths to make sure that everything we produce is archival and rated to last over 200 years with normal use. Professional quality products such as these are not available on the consumer level.
The real value of what we do will be in the portraits of your family that you'll see and enjoy every day on your wall, the album that you hold and look through with your child/husband. Those are going to be the things that bring you the most joy, not digital files that will live and die on your computer.
HOW SOON WILL I BE ABLE TO ORDER PRODUCTS?
An Ordering Session typically takes place in our studio two to three weeks after your Portrait Session. When your Portrait Session date is chosen, we will also choose your Ordering Session date. Since we want all decision-makers present at the Ordering Session, a date is works for you will be chosen. You will be able to place your product order then.
WHO SHOULD COME TO THE ORDERING SESSION?
All decision makers should be present at the Ordering Session.
WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE?
Payment is due the day of your Ordering Session appointment when your order is placed. A no-interest payment plan option is available. (See “Do you offer a payment plan?” below.)
HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE I RECEIVE MY ORDER?
Once your order is placed, allow 2 weeks for your images to retouched and sent to you for your online approval. Once you approve your order and make final payment, allow 3 – 6 weeks for delivery.
WHAT IS YOUR HOLIDAY SEASON CUT OFF DATE TO ENSURE DELIVERY BY CHRISTMAS?
Portrait and Ordering Sessions must be held and the product order must be paid for in full by November 15th, in order for it to be edited in time for holiday season orders.
That’s because we don’t just photograph your session one day and place your order the next day. We photograph your session; then typically within 15 days, you have an Ordering Session, where you place your order.
Next, we create your products and put proofs online for your approval. If retouching is required, it must done, and then the images are put back online until you give your final approval. At that point, final payment is due along with your final approval. Generally, this process takes about three weeks — that’s BEFORE your product can even be ordered!
Once the order is placed, we are then completely at the mercy of the commercial company that is processing our order along with the thousands of other orders of folks who want their products before Christmas!
That’s why we absolutely do not guarantee orders will be delivered by Christmas if they are placed after November 15th. Please don’t be mad at us if you don’t finalize your order before November 15th!!
If delivery before Christmas is important to you, we’d love, love, love it if you ordered sooner rather than later to be sure everything arrives in plenty of time!
WILL THE ORDER HAVE TO BE PAID IN FULL BEFORE IT IS DELIVERED?
Yes. Orders will not be delivered until the order is paid in full.
CAN I PICK UP MY ORDER?
Absolutely! Order pickups are scheduled each Friday by appointment only, or we can ship your order to your home.

We offer the highest quality Wall Art products in a variety of framed and frameless options. We have two framed lines, Masterpiece and Standard, and four frameless lines, Bamboo, Ice, Gallery Wrap and Steel.
We also offer portrait boxes and albums, as well as other boutique luxury products.
WHAT DO THE PRODUCTS COST?
It is true that a custom experience and high-quality products will initially be more expensive than going to a cookie-cutter portrait studio at your local mall, or someone who will hand you a CD of images and leave you to your own devices as to what to do with it.
As a professional family photographer, we invest time with you and your family and provide you with a custom experience, creating wall art uniquely for you. We customize our portrait sessions and our wall art to each family. Every single product we offer is printed on archival paper with archival inks, so they are Museum quality. We know your family portraits are of those you cherish and that they will most likely become treasured family heirlooms. In order to do that, they have to stand the test of time. Our products will do so – and the value will continue to grow year after year.
There is nothing more important than the ones you love. Make a lasting investment in family portrait wall art that will become cherished family heirlooms. The generations to come will appreciate your forethought as they share that heritage with others, “See? That’s my family!”
DO YOU OFFER A PAYMENT PLAN?
We do! With 25% down, a no-interest layaway payment plan option is available. Your products will be delivered when final payment is received.
While we love creating beautiful images, rather than just stopping there, we have chosen to elevate your iconic portraits into gorgeous works of art to be touched, admired and then treasured by the ones you love - not just for today, but for the generations that will follow. Your moments...forever.
We typically work with moms and dads who realize that their children won’t be young forever. They all say, “Where did the time go?”
We can’t stop time! That’s why parents commission Ever After to create beautiful heirloom portraits of their children and family so they can decorate their home with the ones they love.
The heirloom products that we create are museum quality and rated to last 150 years. They are heirloom legacy pieces handed down to your children so they can treasure the memories of YOU and their childhood long after each is gone -- and then they will hand them down to THEIR children, to become even more valued as years pass. It’s this type of heirloom artwork that if a disaster struck, you would grab your kids, your cat and these portraits because they mean that much to you...
If you cherish your family, value fine art portraits and want your moments captured forever...
