  • REPLY WITH: "Absolutely. May I ask what you want to use them for? _______________________________
  • -"Oh, fantastic. That would be awesome. We would love for that, too.

What we have is for every piece of artwork that you purchase, you are able to also purchase the social media file. They are only $50 but we have them all sized and ready for you perfectly for the screen so you don't have to do any more work on them. They are ready to Go. So for any artwork that you have purchased you can add that on as well. How does that sound?

-every portrait you order, you'll be getting a digital web version of the same image to share with friends and family on Facebook absolutely free.

-yes I give both. Everything you purchase comes printed and digital"

That's great! We believe you should share your Wall Art and Art Albums with those who visit your home -- after all, those are the finished pieces of art work. Just know that for we have the perfect product - social media files - sized, $50 each and also have an app available to share on your phone.

    How does that sound?
  • "Oh, that's fantastic! One thing that we have designed specifically for that need for people who are wanting to gift their photos to relatives and potentially send them overseas are gift prints. They are about they come in a protective folder so they are protected and packaged to be sent overseas. they are a standard size so they easily can find the frames for them. that way you would be able to give them the photographs that you know they will love. We have got that option there for you.

    How does that sound?"
  • "Oh, did you know we design custom made albums and we do all of that for you. We would work with you together to create a beautiful album for you and you can chose the photos so you will have your very own album, that is beautifully made, the best thing is that because they are professionally printed from one of our printers, they are museum quality so they are rated to last 150 years quality so your grandkids won't miss out on knowing who they look like! The portrait will last long enough that they can actually compare.

    How does that sound?
  • -We actually archive everything that is purchased on three servers, at the lab, backed up to cloud and a back up on the server, their photos are safe.

to be sure that if you ever want to have it reprinted we know we have them stored for you - also our commercial labs guarantee what we order, too. We are guaranteeing that in many different ways. And we know that files can corrupt, so if we were to give them to you on a USB or a disk that is quite possibly going to be damaged, or corrupted in the future, the only way that we can guarantee if you do take that archive that it will actually work is for us to have copies. But if you purchase the copy on disk then we no longer have that archived because it is then your responsibility, so we decided it was actually safer for us to do that. How does that sound?

We only archive what they have purchased because it costs money and time so we are only prepared to do this for what client value by purchasing the portraits they love then clients are telling us what they actually value

You know, I had a friend who backed up his family photos on a 5.25 floppy and his mother decided to label it with a post it note with family photos and then a staple through the post it note so that it wouldn't come off - can you imagine? He lost all of their family portraits!

technology changes and fast we don't know what you will be able to read but we have you covered CD's aren't even going to have anything on them past 3 years

99% of people who say they will come back don't so there have been many cases where people have come back but they are corrupted sometimes a death in the family and the one they wanted was corrupted we don't want that to happen to you so that's why we make it so easy for you to purchase what you love today so you can enjoy it displayed in your home - that's why we have a great payment plan.

    How does that sound?
  • -I understand

The thing is that consumer level products may seem to be the same quality, but they are not. It's like a receipt from McDonalds - if you go back and look at it, in say, three years, the ink almost disappears -- not like letters people wrote even 100 years ago that are still around. Once they get your money, they don't care how long their product lasts, so initially it SEEMS less expensive.

We are a full service photography company just for the main purpose of giving you the best experience and the most professional finished products possible -- and also the highest quality printed, wall-sized portraits that are professionally finished. Did you know that the portraits we create are rated to last over 200 years? Not only do my pro lab prints look perfectly beautiful, but that they are at an archival quality level that IS unavailable to consumers!

What we do is to create one-of-a-kind artwork for our clients’ homes.

Honestly, once my clients see the beautiful wall art, albums, and other products available, they realize that what they really want is a way to display and share their portraits, not just digital files.

It's like every home has a pair of scissors but if you want a haircut with style, you got to a stylist, someone who really knows what they are doing -- would you ever give those scissors to your husband cut your hair?? In a similar manner, if you want something exceptional of your family, you go to a professional and get professional products

__________________ "We are so very careful to make sure that everything that leaves our studio is finished only in the highest manner with full artistry on canvas. The only time any client can see our work without full artistry is when they are in the studio looking at their proofs. It is a way we protect our image. It’s also a way we show respect to both you and us, because we will only give you something if it is our absolute best." ___________________

Oh, thank you for asking, but that's not a product that we offer.

We are happy to print as many as you want. That is why our clients come to a professional - it's what we do. We create everything for you because we specialize in custom designed artwork and everything that leaves the studio is fully finished, the highest quality and ready for you to enjoy.

It's similar to getting something from a designer, like say Prada or Versace. You wouldn't even think of going to them and asking them for the pattern and the cloth just because you have a sewing machine because you are going to whip it up yourself

So in a similar way, we create art of our family - that's what we do - we make sure the quality is the highest available for professional photography and that we use the best labs, labs that are not available to the consumer.

And the other thing is that statistics show us that no one is printing their digital files any more - they are just so busy!

We used to sell just digitals but we sent a survey to 50 clients and of the 32 clients that responded, only 2 had indicated that they printed anything larger than a few gift prints for family.

Our typical client values quality artwork to display and enjoy every day, and pass down to your children". That's why we have gone to great lengths to make sure that everything we produce is archival and rated to last over 200 years with normal use.

The real value of what we do will be in the portraits of your family that you'll see and enjoy every day on your wall, the album that you hold your children on your lap and look through and treasure the memories as they grow up, and then they will do that with their kids. Those are going to be the things that bring you the most joy, not digital files that will live and die on your computer.

    How does that sound?"
  • -Can you help me understand: Are you saying that the only thing you want is JUST digitals? Why would you want JUST digitals?

"I want them just to keep them"

    LISTEN TO THEIR RESPONSE:

“I hear what you are saying.

Can I ask: What would you rather own - An original Monet or Picasso hanging on your wall or the same image on a thumb drive?

    (ALLOW FOR ANSWER)

So art is valuable, wouldn't you agree?

We believe art of your family is really priceless because it will be around long after the memory is gone.

We feel that Art is worthy of and meant to be displayed. That is where you will get the most enjoyment, from having it on the wall and therefore the most bang for your buck.

The old adage "Out of sight, out of mind" comes to mind.

We decorate our walls with things we cherish...wall portraits are always within sight and as such; the family/pets/friends/loved ones are always on our mind.

I don't know about you; but in the quiet moments of the evening or early morning, I catch sight of a portrait on my wall of a cherished person and talk to them...reminisce or just share thoughts as if they were right with me in person.

The wall portrait is a tangible way to keep someone "close-in-spirit".

A cd in a drawer somewhere just doesn't offer the same instant gratification...the images are "out of sight and out of mind".

We are a full-service studio so we specialize in the experience and finished products.

In a similar manner, if you want something exceptional, really art of your family, you go to a professional and get professional products.

    How does that sound?"
  • ---Oh, that's not a problem at all. We have a record.
  • ---"Oh wow, now I've spoilt your surprise.

However, now that I have you on the phone, congratulations on winning one of our Luxury Gift Certificates values at $XXX.

So, tell me, who would you LOVE to bring to your photography experience?"

  • --- it's so great your kids need your attention right now and I want you to give them what they need. How about I give you a call back at 4?
  • Well, it's really exciting. What you have is $500 to spend toward a photographic experience with us and I'm really excited to start planning that with you."

    And that includes..."

...your planning session with me on the phone. the beautiful photographic session with us. and then a cinematic presentation of your best photographs as well as a specialist design consultant who is going to show you through the best photographs from the day and help you chose amazing artwork for your home and then your GC is also money to spend towards that artwork. How awesome is that?"

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

""So, I can't wait to hear - who would you love to bring along?"
  • "Well, that's really going to depend on what you want in the end. So what I'd love to do is just find out a little bit more about you so that I can get a really good sense for what it is that will be perfect for you. That way, towards the end, I can give you a much better idea of what you would be likely to spend with us. How does that sound?

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

"Okay, so first of all, let me find out: Who would you love to bring along?"
  • ---"Absolutely -- you are going to love the portraits so much you will want to spend more money than you gift certificate!

There is no required purchase, so what you spend is up to you and you are only going to buy what you love.

What we talked about and what i quoted you for is something that i truly believe you will love to have. But we definitely have other options and you''ll be able to see them at your portrait session".

  • It has a 6 weeks to actually book in and schedule a date, and that day can be scheduled within three months - (so once they pay a booking fee, they have 3 months to use it)
  • "oh! Are you driving?

What time are you going to be home? I'd love for you to safely get home to your family and we'll talk then.

This can definitely wait! I'll call you again at X time (whatever time they said they will be home), sound good?"

  • DAD FAMILY CALL-SPEAKING ABOUT MOM

  • Hi, this is Mindy with Ever After portraits - is this (DAD'S NAME)

So I want to be respectful of your time so I am going to jump right in - we're going to create a family portrait. My goal always for anyone that comes before my camera is to create MEANINGFUL portraits - MEANINGFUL portraits to YOU - but I don't KNOW what is meaningful to you - and I feel like you are 50% of the family. So that's why I always talk to my dads. I want to photograph YOUR family through YOUR eyes, ALL the things you LOVE about them, so their personality shines through - that's what I'm trying to do.

And the other thing is I was listening to WIFE when she was telling me SUCH amazing things about YOUNGEST CHILD and what she loved so much just about watching YOU with them

And do you know what? The one thing she could NOT do is tell me what is so amazing about HERSELF - and I had to give you a call because she just sounds like the most incredible person.

I thought in my head I would bet any money you have been trying to tell her for YEARS what it is that is beautiful about her. It seems like she is someone who gives SO much to other people but doesn't understand how amazing she really is.

So I want to start with HER and give you an opportunity to share the things that you adore about her...because I would love to create a portrait of the two of you that is MEANINGFUL - If you are like most of the families I photograph, you have not had a portrait of the two of you together since your wedding! Right? Is that true?

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

So thinking about XXXX and what you love the most about her - you are her person, you know her the best - what are the qualities - or just describe for me the qualities you love THE MOST about her - like what would they be?

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

So when you say XXXX, what does XXXX look like to you?

Can you describe that to me?

If you go back to that moment right now in your minds eye, that moment of seeing her being XXXX, can you describe to me what that looks like?
  • This field is hidden when viewing the form

"When you think of her being XXXX, can you describe the expression that really communicates that to you?

Like what is that THING that you just looooooove, that your WIFE does that silently communicates that she loves you, a gesture or something that she does that tells you how much she cares?

So what is it you love the most about that?

i want to photograph that, so when she's being XXX, can you describe what that looks like, her expression to me?

What is it you love the most about that expression?

For you, how does it feel when you see that?
  • Okay, last question about (WIFE'S NAME)

“What about _____ makes _____ the perfect partner for you.
OR What makes you who you are as a couple?

I want you to think back to the very first time that you saw her...met her...think about that. What was it about her that you first noticed?

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

OR What was that one moment when you just knew she was the one that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with?

I understand. Have you thought what it would be like to enjoy them every day without having to remember to flip open a laptop and press "next" a couple hundred times?

I'm not a firefighter, but I know people aren't running back into their burning homes for thumb drives.

    Hey Dad, I get it.

Many photographers go down the path of just tossing you a photo for Facebook and move on.

But I got to be honest Dad. . . that’s not what it’s about for me. I want to provide families a way to hear “I LOVE YOU” every day. To see “I’m important” every day. To showcase what is most important in our world Every. . . .single. . . .day. Because you know what Dad? There just isn’t enough of that in our world.

There’s too much “reality TV” and fast food telling us that we are only worth a quick dollar. So when I help a family celebrate what’s most important to them, I couldn’t bring myself to devalue what they love by tossing them a cold USB drive and wave goodbye. . . .because who needs more of that right?”

SO, with that in mind. . . .if you could visually tell your son/daughter how much he/she means to you from the second he/she wakes up to the moment he/she falls asleep. . . . where would you display that?

Eagles want to win. You want him to win too. Emphasize that you want to give him the best experience, because his family deserves the best.

By having the photographs in their home, his family will have an amazing reminder of their awesome life together each and every day. Isn't that what they deserve?

  • I was watching an interview with Neil Armstrong - the first man on the moon and he said that his biggest regret was not being as present in his family’s life as he’d have liked.

So I want to thank you for taking time for this call today. I know that Fathers feel that they primarily shoulder the responsibility to provide so they are working really hard for the family. When I talk to adults looking back on their childhood they seem to value most the TIME they spent with their dad, who he shaped them to be as a person...

It's such an important relationship in a person's life - I am going to make sure that your portrait captures your relationship with each of your children beautifully so you will ALWAYS have it.

So I'm going to ask you a question or two about each of your kids. Let's start with XXXX, your youngest.

Now thinking about your youngest child, I don't know them - so help me see your child through your eyes: What is unique about him/her - what do you just LOVE about him/her?

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

A portrait is a way to help your child see IN HIM/HERSELF what you WANT him/her to see ABOUT him/herself. It's going to tell them something - and we get to decide in this moment what that's going to be for them.

For instance, if you want them to BE more confident, we'll photograph them BEING confident, mirror that confidence BACK to them through a portrait, and they WILL BE more confident.

We all struggle with something. So what does XXXX struggle with?

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

You are the only dad he/she will ever have. What would you love for XXXX to see about him/herself?

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

INTENTION CHILD 1 SEE ABOUT THEMSELVES:
  • This field is hidden when viewing the form

When you are thinking about XXXX, what are some of the moments that you love the most, moments when he is the happiest
    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

What did you love most about seeing your son doing whatever that was?
  • This field is hidden when viewing the form

When she is being WORDIEST, can you describe her expressions to me?
When you see XXX (quality or scene described above) how does it make you feel to have XXXX (kid)

How does it feel when you see that?
What does that mean to you to have that in your life?

OMG, To have that QUALITY (relentlessness to gain what you want and be successful with what you are passionate about) are awesome qualities to have, aren't they ??

Isn't it a shame that we lose some of this QUALITY (determination) as life goes on - don't you agree??

Don't you wish you had some more of that determination that your daughter shows you every day??

"if he was able to hold onto this XXXX, what could he accomplish as an adult? Who could he be?!?!? So this is something worth reminding him of everyday isn't it?!?!

  • FINISH THIS SENTENCE ABOUT THIS CHILD: The thing that is MOST important to me about my relationship with my son/daughter that I want him/her to ALWAYS remember is -

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

As parents, we WANT to be there but it can be super challenging to be available for EVERY important moment.

I'm going to create a portrait as a reminder for your son/daughter that you really love him/her even when you can't always be there.

    INTENTION CHILD 1 WITH DAD:
  • (This field goes into AIRTABLE > SOUNDBITES table.)

  • Oh my goodness, I LOVE that....

These portraits CAN have an effect on our kids. So if you want your son/daughter to FEEL strong and confident, if we create a portrait of him/her that way, it WILL AFFECT how he/she sees him/herself.

So...(pause) I want to ask one last question that relates to him/her and your family as a whole...and I want you to think for a moment before you answer this...

I believe that people you love the most should KNOW how important they are to you...but people just don't do that...the only time you HEAR it is at a wedding or a funeral, but it's such a big part of your family story...

I want you to take a moment and imagine that this was the LAST day you were going to get to spend together as a family.

I want you to take a minute to let that sink in, because tomorrow is never promised to ANY of us...

If there was ONE THING you could tell YOUR FAMILY, one thing that you want to make sure that they know about who they are to YOU right now in their life and what it means to you....and what you love the MOST about being part of this family, what would it be?

  • You know what would be cool --

If you could imagine what Jessica would love to do the most? If you could imagine Jessica's perfect day, what would it look like? She opens her eyes, what happens from there?

You know what you could do? You could give her a treat and actually DO that. Like, next time you have available that you could take the kids away from the day and tell her to go off and do something for yourself, have that pedicure.

Let her know how much you are looking forward to spending that quality time with your kids and that she should spend that time for herself

When we create something for you that will transport you back, every time you look at it, to the way you feel right now, something that would enable you to remember that, like If you could walk in the room and it gave you an instant connection to this feeling, no matter what was going on in your life......What would that mean to you to have something like that?"

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

So when we capture that incredible moment for you, where in your home would you love to display that so no matter what is going on, you can feel that rush of love? like even if you have a fight, it would be like a reset button, to take you back to the feeling you have right now?

(MY WIFE DOES ALL THAT) At the ORDERING SESSION you will be choosing together, but just for now, where would you love to see it if you got to choose?"

    (ALLOW THEM TO ANSWER)

That sounds good. Your family can draw strength from this daily - even a series of portraits in a collection would look AMAZING there!

    --- EXAMPLE-ART

"Remember when we spoke Bill, about how much you loved the way Bobby's hand fits into yours at this point in his life and you know before you know it, he will be grown and out the door? This portrait would look amazing above your desk, just like you told me and you could see his little hand every day."

    ___ FOR THOSE NOT CONNECTING

What do you think it will mean in the future to this child to have a visible reminder of the things you love and see in them? Can you see how precious it will be to your child to have that and see that love from their dad every day? How encouraging it would be and and it would build security in the heart of their little girl as she grows into that ______ woman? (using their key words, of course.) As a provider, you may not have always been or maybe in the future always be available for important moments. How important is it to you to have this as a reminder for your daughter that he really loves her even when you can't be there?

Choosing a place where you can put something substantial, large enough to have presence in the area is important because you will want this to be be an experience that will live on your wall; one that you will re-experience every day, wouldn't you agree?

Now, I always encourage my clients to think of the products like celebrating your anniversary.

If you are like my husband and I, we go out to eat pretty often throughout the year, but when we celebrate our anniversary every year we do something extra special -- and then we go ALL OUT when we celebrate our miles stone anniversaries, 5 year, 10 year, 25 year.

In a similar way, the products we create are special, and will become really priceless. In 20 years, when the kids are all gone, there is no amount of money that I could give you to buy it back.

I tell everyone: MY job is to take the most incredible portraits -- I want you to fall in love with every single one of them.

YOUR job is to resist buying them!

So don't be surprised when you love what we do -- our products start at $500 but you are probably going to want to spend more.

The Wall Art Designs we create can be purchased in any of six unique finishes to suit any lifestyle, traditional or modern.

You can choose from our premium product, which is our Masterpiece framed Wall Art, is all done by hand, from the frame being handcarved to being painted by hand in a 35 step process. We have standard framing and a frameless line, where we print on canvas, metal, glass and even bamboo. All of them are museum quality rated to last 150 years.

You know, I have to tell you, the clients we have really LOVE our work. Most of them spend thousands not hundreds, since we really specialize in Fine Art wall portraits, and they are custom.

As far as the final price, I would say it all depends on how many art pieces you choose and the finish you fall in love with because they each have a different price point - so it really ranges --

Our wall art starts at $1,500 some have spent $3000/4000/5000 and some as much as 10,000 , 12,000 even 15,000.

My highest collections go up to 20,000. I say that to show that if you want the moon, you can do that, or if you want a single album, or wall art, there are lots of options.

However, there is no minimum purchase, no required purchase, so you buy only what you love.

The amount you invest is really entirely up to you!

Does that make sense? Are you good with that?

  • That's it for today!

SAY THIS ONLY IF THEY ASK ABOUT PRICING

Just so you know, I am going to go over the custom designs we are creating for you, the products we offer and the pricing on our design session call which is in a few days and already scheduled

But I can take a few minutes time and give you an overview today, if you like. What works best for you?

    ((ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

SAY THIS IS THEY WANT TO HEAR IT

Let me tell you a little about that...I want to give you an idea of pricing because I would want to know -

IF THEY HAVE A GIFT CERTIFICATE FOR A CONTEST OR ARTIST PROJECT, SAY THIS:

Your GIFT CERTIFICATE will cover the session AND a 10" fine art portrait.

Most people find they would enjoy their portrait at a larger size, since the 10 inch is a beginning size. So most choose to get more than the gift.

I just want to reassure you that if YOU fall in love with YOUR portraits, you CAN get a larger wall art piece or even a collection of portraits.

The next size up from your GIFT, which would be double the size with full artistry, would only be an extra $500. Obviously, we've got more sizes that keep going up in a similar way. As each size increases, it typically doubles the square inches too.

Our products start at $500 and go up from there - so you could spend anywhere from $500 up to $20,000, if you wanted to. There is no minimum or required purchase or any obligation to purchase anything else.

Most people love the portraits of their family that we create, so some spend more, some spend less - it really ranges. No one knows what they're going to fall in LOVE with until they SEE their final portraits. Just know that whatever you end up choosing will feel perfect for you. WHATEVER you choose you’re going to love it FOREVER.

As part of what I do, I'm going to create some designs and show you what the artwork could look like on the wall and go over price ranges. I'll email those to you and WIFE and then get your thoughts during a 10-minute Design Session call about a week from now.

    How does that sound?

  • That's it - that's all for today.

Oh wait - one more thing..

Are there any special games or activities that any special things that you do with the kids?

Like are you the dad that will throw them up in the air or is there something like peek a boo kind of YOUR thing that you do with them?

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

Okay, so if you think of something, feel free to text me!

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

    Your answers have been amazing!

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

Now I feel like I know your family well enough to create beautiful, authentic portraits of all of you, that shows your connection.

The next time we speak will be during our Design Session by phone, for about 10 minutes so I can get your opinions on the designs we create for your home.

Last thing...What I have found is sometimes people have different goals for each session

Like sometimes mom has a goal. There's a goal for the children.

You know, a lot of dads are kind of pushed off to the side. But I want to make sure that you know that I want for you to be a part of this, because you're a huge part of this family, you know, this family wouldn't be here. If you weren't here today.

So my last question I should probably ask you know, what are you looking for? Do you have things in mind? Are there any special requests that you would like to make?

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

Do you have any questions before we hang up?

  • RESPONSE: If you don't mind me asking, what do you feel he will say when you check with him?

    (ALLOW FOR RESPONSE)

I would recommend that you sit down with your husband and look together at our web site. This way, he will see the quality of the work we do and understand that this is much more then just a typical portrait, but a true piece of art that will be an heirloom for your family. It will be something that speaks into your lives everyday and shows the relationship you hold dear as a family. It is truly an investment and I think he will understand that when he sees our work as well.

  • RESPONSE:

"Yes I agree, you should definitely talk to your husband!"

"Do you think your husband would say no to the product or the price?"

If they say it's the price, you're going to want to move up a package... not down. The key here is to establish value at your current pricing point. "I know you both are considering all of your options, but if we move up 1 package you get X, and your total amount (always use total amount, not down payment) today will be the same as the previous package, and you get this much more. It's always better to pay just a little bit more and get exactly what you want." If they say no and it's out of their price range you come back down to the current product and sell the value! Include something that won't cost you much but will add more value than before. For me in my photo booth business I can include free social media sharing. It doesn't cost me much more but it adds even more value to the package. If they say it's the product, then clearly you're on the wrong product and start the process over again.

    OR

If you don't mind me asking, what do you feel he will say when you check with him?

    OR

"If you don't mind me asking, is there something you're unsure of, or that I wasn't able to answer for you?"

    OR

"I agree. If you’re anything like me, and I think you are, I talk to my wife about everything! Which means she already knows you’re talking to me about using our service, would you agree? Great, she knows you’re looking, you know you guys want it, let’s do this! I just need a credit card number to reserve the date."

  • SAY "Really! Expensive, compared to what?”

CLIENT RESPONSE: If she says you are too expensive and you ask the question above and she tried to justify, let her. If she doesn't know the cost, compare it to something similar in cost "for the cost of a cup of a daily cup of Starbucks."

If she is comparing you to someone cheaper, emphasize the quality of the products and the service.

If she isn't ready to buy, you can remind her of a genuine buy-now-not-later discount that you can only offer within a certain time frame.

    ---

Tell me more..."I hear what you are saying - it sounds too expensive. Can you tell me more about what you had in mind?" (Find the true objection) FEEL, FELT, FOUND. I understand how you feel. I have felt the same way. What I have found is. What do you think the benefits of XXXXX is? (So you can understand what the benefits that the buyer feels) Imagine. Picture. Think about...Project them owning the product...

  • SAY "If it weren’t for the money, would this be something you’d want to do?" (If they say “yes,” then this usually means that they see the value of your offering, and they are perceiving money to be the issue. )

NEXT SAY: “Okay , I get that you want to work with me but money is a factor for you. Is it because you don’t have ANY money at all, or is it that you don ’t have the money available for this?”

  • : "Yes we are expensive, isn't that why you called us because of what you have seen and heard about us? By charging an appropriate amount we are able to deliver a level of service that others just can't."

If they say "it's too much money" : "Would you help me to understand, are you saying that the price is the most important thing to you?" Or, "Do you mind if I ask you a question? Is the price you pay for your daughter/sons portraits the most important thing you are concerned with?"

"Are there other things that are very important to you besides the price?"

If they say "It's too much money" say "Ms. Jones, I understand how you feel. I can tell you that all my other clients felt that same way, at first. But then they found years later, that the cost was insignificant to the enjoyment they got our of having these photos and how it meant so much to their families as well."

If they say ""Everything you say is true, but... it's too much for me to pay."" say

"Oh, I see... Hmmm. Would an affordable payment plan help?"

CLIENT: "Oh I didn't know you'd do that! That changes everything."

If they say "It's too much money" say "If I can give you something that you really wanted, would you be willing to pay a little more than you anticipated?" Or you can ask if price is their only concern with portraits.

Do they appreciate service, quality, and other factors also? I often ask, if you can have whatever you want ignoring price, what is ideal for you?

    1) Isn't it worth paying a little extra for __________ ? 2) Every distinguished home should have a __________ . 3) The _________ you receive will be worth many times the price. 4) You probably though you couldn't afford ___________. 5) Don't you deserve the best? 6) Not as expensive as you think/thought. 7) We're sure to have the perfect_________ for you. 8) You owe it to your family to _____________.

If they say "It's STILL too much" say "“I totally understand how my luxury sessions look expensive. If I’m outside of your budget, that’s not a problem. I suggest one of our special events, which is a short session time with special event pricing. Does that sound like something that might interest you? If you change your mind about a regular session, do let me know and I’ll get you on my calendar."

  • What grades are your kids in? Those are such fun ages." “

How long has it been since you’ve had them photographed professionally? How long has it been since you’ve had a family portrait session?”

Client Says: A year, 3 years, 5 years, never… “ Having this done for your family is really important, and it’s something that you’ll always remember and always enjoy.

Would you consider taking your kids late one day, or getting them out early?” or “ You know Sarah, I’m going to bet that you’re only going to do this once this year. A family portrait session is so valuable to your family. Why don’t we set up a time when you’re willing to take the girls out of school early, or perhaps take them a bit late one day. What day of the week is best for them to miss 1/2 a day?”

  • “ What does your husband do?

Client Answers: He works… “ That does sound busy! You must be really busy with the kids, too with him working so hard. (acknowledge her problem) How long has it been since you’ve had a family portrait?

Client Says: A year, 3 years, 5 years, never… “ This is so important for your family. I hope you’ll let your husband know how much you appreciate him taking the time out for your family to do this. Do you think that he would consider taking a longer lunch one day? (going in late, leaving work early, whatever fits the situation). OR… “

Absolutely. We have two special events this year - one in the spring and one early fall. Which would work better? OR… “ Absolutely. Our weekend session fee is just $500.” (And be quiet. Your weekend session fee should be at least double what your weekday session fee is, unless of course that is the only day that you schedule appointments.)

  • SAY "I understand -- this is a transient area and I would say the majority of my clients are not in their forever home. Most though when the do move to their new place, have even more space. And if you are like me, I always move the same furniture in the new place, like my sofa and bed, so we can design for the space over pieces of furniture, so no matter where it is in your new home, it will still be appropriately sized. Obviously we are excited about creating a portrait that will be a stunning addition to your decor, if we thrill you, will you be OK with the starting amount of X that we just discussed?

""Many of our clients are in a transition phase so my goal is to design you something that will look great on any wall so as you are moving around, it will look great wherever you put it."

  • SAY "I understand. I know sometimes it's hard being a military family, because not only do your move a lot, but sometimes dad (or mom) isn't with the family. Family Portraits will help you to remember special times together. And the best part is that taking those family portrait memories with you to your new home will help the kids to settle in to their new location and feel more secure."

  • It's okay that he feels this way. Have you ever wondered why? Probably best not to pressure him as he is quite normal, and this happens from time to time. Perhaps you can ease the whole topic by letting him know he can just use the GC but that we will still give him all of his options.

    ALSO

She had a very small home, and was immensely proud of it and loved decorating it. When she told us she was putting a second couch in the living room, we couldn't believe she was even considering it! There was just no more room...but guess what? She found room and it was beautiful! I asked her the question everyone was thinking...and that question was, "Where are you going to put that couch?" You know what her answer was? "If you love something enough, you will find a place for it!"
  • (subtext maybe is 'give me some cheap prints'

ANSWER: "All of our pieces come ready to hang - I want to be sure that you'll get them on your walls right away so that you can enjoy them every single day."

  • To which I answer, "Portraits are created to pass down from generation to generation. We believe that it is a great idea to invest in more than one so that each child can inherit one or more and not have to fight over them."

If they say: We will be adding on to our family/building an extension/moving in the near future so don't know what we want

ANSWER: "Canvas Gallery Wraps will be perfect for you! You can expand the grouping as your family grows and changes, and you don't have to worry about matching a frame to a new decor style. You can also take images out of your grouping, because each piece stands alone."

If it's a matter of fitting a large print in their new home... Queen / King beds are big. Couches are big. You can fit them in a room.... You can fit a large print on a wall.

  • ANSWER:

How did you happen to come up with that number? OR " Are you gonna let a budget get in the way of something you deserve?"

If they say: I have a budget of X say "Fantastic, during your art consultation I'll show you what clients typically end up choosing, and of course I'll show you what I can offer you within your budget as well. I think you'll fall in love with some of our heirloom quality items like our custom designed Wall Art groupings."

  • Smile and say "Thank you. Why do you think someone would pay significantly more for portraits with me than to other photographers?"

  • then say: I talked with the parents about this in advance and mentioned that families in the past had expressed regret that they had involved the children because the appointment took so much longer than it would have otherwise.

Still I understand why the kids might want to pick a portrait of themselves. So why don't you choose the size and frame or finish and your favorite images of them, and then they can come in on a separate day and chose their favorite images.

  • RESPONSE: I understand. If you don't mind me asking, what exactly is it that you are shopping for? Maybe I can help.

  • RESPONSE: I understand. May I ask you a question? I'm sure there's a good reason why you're hesitating. Do you mind if I ask what it is?

  • RESPONSES: JUST SUPPOSE we could create Wall Art, really a group of candid, artistic, emotional images or all of you together that you truly loved. It was everything you ever dreamed of.

If we could, would you be willing to invest between $1,500 to $2,000 for that Wall Art?

I understand exactly how you FEEL. Many people have FELT that way when they first spoke with me. But you know what they FOUND?

They found that even though the investment was a little more than they originally had wanted to do, they were so thrilled with the results, that they were more than happy to invest just a little more!

If you don't mind me asking, what have you BUDGETED for your photography?

HOW IMPORTANT are these photographs to you?

Is the price going to be the MAJOR DETERMINING FACTOR as to who does your family portrait?

If you don't mind me asking, HOW MUCH TOO MUCH are we?

How LONG WILL IT BE before you do this again?

HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN since your last really nice family portrait?

If you were my SISTER, I would say what I am about to say to you. Come in and chat with us. There's no charge and no obligation. What you learn will amaze and excite you. Then at least you are making an educated decision.

How do you feel about the things we have talked about here?

  • RESCHEDULING LANGUAGE:

“Sarah, would you mind terribly if we put our new appointment at a time when it is very unlikely you would have to postpone or reschedule? I’m really embarrassed to have to ask you. The last two times I had to cancel on my sitter at the last moment and while I really don’t mind doing that for such a good client as you, I felt bad doing it to her. Is it terrible of me to ask this of you?”
