People who have never done this before would be SURPRISED

We're gonna put a game plan together because I NEVER want anyone to be surprised.

Historically, in this industry, the goal is to take a bunch of pictures and get somebody in a room and pressure them into buying all of them

expect YOU to do all the work, like a DIY thing.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH THAT is people end up with lots of pictures that never make it to your wall or WORSE on a hard drive somewhere forgotten or maybe unfinished prints in boxes collecting dust. Products available on the consumer level don't compare to the quality that WE product as PROFESSIONALS.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH THAT is photos remain forgotten on a hard drive or tucked away in dusty boxes, never making it to your walls. Consumer products can’t match the quality and craftsmanship we bring as professionals. Low-quality images fade over time, becoming unrecognizable by the time your children want to share them with their own families.

In my life, I want to know to know what's happening beforehand, about how much something's gonna cost, maybe not exactly, but I need to know a range. So that's how we work.

For most generations clients, that's going to be everyone all together in a group, right?

Honestly, it's okay to say that you have no idea at this point
Most clients start this DESIGN SESSION with the answer of "I don't know"

So the thing is
I DO have an idea,

Sometimes what I hear is
I need to see the portraits first
and then we’ll decide what we want.
That’s a very common response.
And honestly, we COULD do that but then we’re shooting for EVERYTHING and it makes the PORTRAIT SESSION RUN LONGER.

But the thing is that
There’s only so much time AND good energy to go around in any given session, ESPECIALLY when children are involved in a session.

Instead of spreading out that good energy
across a LOT of different portraits
when we are more intentional
and concentrate on the PRIORITY for
the END result that we want
which is what we are going to DO with those portraits
WHERE those portraits are going to GO
then YOU GUYS get a better result

What are your thoughts on that?

Typically, my clients will buy art for their walls
and/OR a custom designed album, or maybe a portrait box
I mean, you don’t live in The Guggenheim
So EVERY portrait CAN'T live on your walls, right?

What are you guys thinking? I am asking because I tend to photograph differently for an album, more candids I would say so I would want to make sure I have that covered knowing that's what you want.

IF THEY JUST WANT EVERYTHING SAY THIS AND GAUGE THEIR REACTION

If there’s no place for that image to live, If it’s not going in an album or it’s not going on the wall somewhere, really there’s no point in photographing it.



IF THEY USE MINIMIZING LANGUAGE

You know, if we're only shooting for the family together,
that is our most important thing and that is all we need.
and that's all we're gonna put on the wall,
then let's just work that, make it great.
And then we won't stress the kids out and do all the other stuff
the other stuff isn't necessary.

If there's no place for that portrait to go,
then we don't have to shoot it.

when it's big are on your wall that's when you need me.

HOW OLD IS YOUR CHILD AGAIN?

3-4 years old
is what we call the Age of Wonderment.
There is no pretense.
They are unpredictably clingy, shy, quiet one minute and rambunctious the next



5-8 years old
is what we call Age of Discovery, where they are discovering their place in the world, and need reassurance from you. Lots of changes.

They typically lose their teeth at 5! Faces lose their babyish look, and you realize your toddler is now a child!



9-14 years old
is what we call Age of Significance because they are becoming more complex and less dependent on you, but need reassurance beccause peer acceptance starts to become REALLY important. They are kind of suspenced between a child and an adult

SO glad you are having portraits because this is the age where children are most neglected as far as portraits, the tween years, where they often feel like the ugly duckling. This portrait will have the most impact on their self esteem.



15-18 years old
is what we call Age of Purpose because they are establishing who they are and maturing more every day, and it's bittersweet because it's their final years at home with you.

This age is MUST to phortograph and it will help you hold on to them through a portrait that will become their presence in your home after they leave. This can be a defining portrait of them.

MY home is FILLED with portraits of my ONLY child by HERSELF

- one day she told me

– what she REALLY wanted was not photos of JUST HERSELF,

but a MOTHER-DAUGHTER portrait WITH me

AND a portrait of her WITH her FATHER in it, too

I think EVERY child feels like that!

But she didn't HAVE that
because I was overweight
I liked being BEHIND the camera more than being in FRONT of it

BUT I WAS NOT getting any thinner
and I WAS NOT getting any younger

It made me realize
Portraits are not just for YOU

- they are for your children and grandchildren, too

I didn't REALLY get how important though
until my own mom passed
and I didn't have a BEAUTIFUL portrait of JUST her and me.
and now I can NEVER have that.
She lives on in my heart now.

NOW I GET that we don't ALWAYS appreciate the value of REALLY IMPORTANT things in the MOMENT

SOMETIMES, it means doing something you don't necessarily WANT want to do - SOMETIMES DAD FEEL THAT WAY

and our entry level wall portrait starts at $1,500

and some have spent that.

We have different sizes and finishes that go up from there

- the largest portrait and collections I CAN create are LIFESIZE at $20,000 - that is NOT a fit for MOST people, but I say that so if you WANT the moon, we absolutely can do that for you.

Generally, our most popular STANDALONE STATEMENT SINGLE out of pocket WITH a $1,000 credit applied ranges between 2,500 and 18,000, based on the finish you choose.

For STATEMENT COLLECTIONS, our most popular ones out of pocket with a $2,000 credit applied range between 4,500 and 10,000 based on the finish you choose.

Because ADD ONS are 50% off,

many families add an album or a box

- some want gift prints to GIVE

Some people spend MORE

- some people spend LESS, so it ranges.

Some end up near 2,000 to 4,000,

some end up between 3,000 to 5,000 -

Like we talked about, we have TWO LINES and the pricing is different based on the line, the finish you choose and the size. That's why we give a range.

OUR LEGACY LINE PORTRAITS has two finishes and are our highest quality art pieces, framing is included for a 30" or above. Our MASTERPIECE finish has the look of a commissioned painting.

Our largest most bespoke, hand painted pieces can range up to $20,000 but in this line our prices start at a modest $1,500 with a lot of options in between - and remember, you will have $1000 to spend toward the size you choose.

Our Designer Line has three finishes and after applying your $1000 WALL ART CREDIT, you would only pay out of pocket $1200 and the largest size after applying your credit would be $7500.

I want to make sure you understand our LEGACY pricing because I'd want to know, I don't want to surprise you.

This is a line we have just added, so we are offering the most incentives with it.

You are starting out with a $250 SPENDING CREDIT that covers a 10 inch MOUNTED PRINT of the whole family together.

Let me give you an example just so you can understand how our LEGACY pricing works.

Let's say that you want to go up in size to a 20 inch family portrait. That IS small, just so you know.

Well, a few things are going to change.

Your family portrait is four times larger as far as the size.

Everything we do is retouched, but 20 inch portraits and above get custom attention so thin that arm, make that line go away - you can make specific requests.

Now for that you would pay $1500 over your SPENDING CREDIT.

Now the other thing we're going to do because most of our clients - not all and this isn't a requirement - end up doing one of the family, one of each of the kids - so everything else that you choose at your order appointment, we do those at 50% off for you. And that's only on the day of your ORDERING SESSION.

Let's say you wanted to do an 20 inch of the family AND a 10 inch of each of the kids.

So you are paying $1500 for the family portrait. If you do a 10 inch of each of the kids, those normally are $1000 each, but now they are buy one get one. So that would put you at $2500 for the family portrait and one of each of the kids AFTER USING your spending credit.

Obviously, we've got more sizes that keep going up in a similar way. As each size increases it typically doubles the square inches. And we will have other options available for purchase.

So that is our LEGACY LINE.



Our DESIGNER LINE comes complete with a sleeker outer frame, commercially printed and rated to last over 150 years with your choice of finish - gallery canvas, metal and glass. Depending on the size, these can range up to $20,000 but prices start at $1500 and go up from there.

Just remember we have some bonuses factored in, so the more money you spend the more you get.

Right now, I'm going to be honest and tell you that we are offering more incentives for our LEGACY LINE because it is newer.

But I'm going to tell you that it's one of the few things that has the LEAST VALUE the day we put it on your wall. Every day after that it just becomes more valuable.

One day there will be no amount of money that I could give you to buy it back

How do we get this price down?

There’s two ways - you do less PRODUCTS or smaller SIZES. That’s it.

I understand and that's fine. I don’t want to overwhelm you with too many options because you’re going to come in, you love your kids, you love your family, you are going to want everything, and then probably you’re not going to like the price of that.

So let’s narrow down and figure out just what it is that you need. Of course, you’re going to see more images than probably what you will buy just because if something amazing is happening, I’m not going to NOT shoot it. I don’t want to overwhelm you and I don’t want you to feel like you’re being oversold.

You really have two options at this point.

You can do an EXTENDED PREpayment PLAN where we can DECIDE what you want and then split YOUR PAYMENTS UP for that if that helps. You can spread out PREpayments over the next couple of weeks or months, whatever works for you which would mean that we would need to push out your portrait session date, so you have some time to save up and pay for it. Whatever amount is prepaid by the day of your session, you still get bonuses for. You just schedule payments on the date that you decide in the amount that you decide. So it's all taken care of automatically.

The other option that you have and what I would recommend is you go ahead and have your portrait session and if you spend more than you anticipate we can do a post session payment plan, at the end of your ORDERING SESSION you can set up a LAYAWAY PLAN. and make payments on your order.

HAIR AND MAKEUP and STUDIO WARDROBE would NOT be available for A SPECIAL EVENT SESSION and those services are not refundable, but if that is what you want, you do have that option.

You CHOSE OUR NO STRESS STUDIO WARDROBE option
- SO SMART!!
We will custom style our studio wardrobe for your WHOLE family.
and it will be pressed and ready for you to change into when you arrive.

By way of reminder,

I do not supply SHOES

so please wear/bring dressy black shoes

- most often I will photograph young children in bare feet which gives a timeless feel.

but you are absolutely welcome to bring shoes for the children - and if you decide to do that, I recommend they be black.

I do not supply SLACKS for men/boys

so I ask that the guys arrive in or bring black or grey slacks.

For the best fit, we ask our ladies to please be sure to wear your favorite SHAPEWEAR.

I do have men's jackets that are LONG and SHORT, but sometimes men own custom tailored suits that they prefer to bring or a lady has a dress she just loves that has been tailored to fit her - you are always welcome to bring those as a backup outfit.

Children's hair just needs to be worn natural.



Just remember to arrive at least 20 minutes early, so we are able to start on time

Finding black and shades of greys for kids can be more of a challenge than for adults, so you have the NO STRESS option to use our CUSTOM STYLED STUDIO WARDROBE

That doesn't mean you can't purchase the clothes you want for you or your child, but just be aware that we do have some things here to make life easier, if you want to use them.

Kid's hair just needs to be worn natural. We ask for appropriate shoes, no sneakers

Okay, this is what I call my CYA section as far as ORDERING because you will be making ALL of your decisions THEN.

SOMETIMES when people come in and actually SEE their portraits at the ORDERING SESSION, they change their mind about what DESIGN or what FINISH they like best

so it's OKAY if YOU do that, too.

We did design multiple walls for you and some have purchased 2, 3 displays for different walls in their home.

You are not OBLIGATED to do that, but it happens because people buy what they LOVE.

It's all CUSTOM - so some spend more, some spend less. There is no REQUIRED or MINIMUM purchase.

So what you spend depends on the number of art pieces and the finish you fall in love with.

Now, SOMETIMES people have a comfort level that they WANT to spend, but I have had clients fall in love with portraits and spend more than they originally THOUGHT they would spend.

I'm not MAKING them do that -- they are CHOOSING to.

But I'm very up front that it CAN happen because I don't want you or your husband to be MAD at me.

Honestly, if you are feeling like this SESSION is not the right fit - maybe you know that you definitely want just one and you really don't want to be TEMPTED to spend more, I would encourage you to switch to a WITH LOVE session. The advantage to you is that it is a different product line, and package pricing that is not based on wall art products.

Last is your running out the door checklist, what you need to bring so your husband and kids show up with shoes, belt, tie and a jacket.

I need three things when you bring your kids to the portrait session.

I want them to be well rested - make sure nobody’s spending the night somewhere the night before a session they will show up as complete and utter trolls, tired and grouchy

Do not nag, bribe or threaten them - it's not going to be fun, not something they need to be bribed to do.

Just tell them "We're going to go see Miss Mindy. It's going to be awesome."

Parents ask me I love the expressions you get. How do you DO that?

Don't be surprised if when you arrive I ignore the adults and make it all about the kids!

My goal number one is to establish a connection with the kids

How we do that is that I’m in charge and you’re not actually allowed to talk to your kids once you get here and that it’s me and the kids against you in a fun, playful way.

But just know that if you start correcting or talking to them, I’m just gonna poke fun at you and your husband.

Afterward, I encourage my parents to take the rest of the day off, go to lunch, someplace fun, or out to dinner together, cuz you’re gonna be all dressed up.

Create a fun memory - so you don’t feel like, Yeah, we LOOK cute, but we were on the verge of divorce - so you will remember the day as a happy experience.

Just know that the day of your portrait session, I will be completely taking control of the shoot, and you don't have to worry about anything.

Don't FEEL the need to prime your children to "SAY CHEESE"

Whatever they are doing is perfect - I love naughty kids with personality!
