Each year, the NVCC Photography program at Alexandria sponsors a juried show of work created in the past year by any student. The work included in the final exhibit is selected by an outside Juror who is anonymous until the opening reception. The work entered represents commercial, fine art and photojournalism aspects of photography.
While taking a photoshop course at NOVA, our local community college, at the urging of our teacher, Sarah Raymond, I decided to enter the juried photography show. There were 188 pieces entered.
I was SO excited to get the phone call while in Vegas, not only that three of prints placed in the show, but that I received one of nine cash prizes awarded for work to be used on the printed announcements for next year’s show!

I got a call from Toni Clark, of AOL to provide images for interviews she was doing of an event downtown on the Mall in D.C. Dr. Ian Smith, best known as the diet expert on VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club has come up with a campaign to encourage African Americans shed 50 million pounds over the next two years.
Saturday, April 7, the 50 million pound challenge kicked off on the Mall in Washington, D.C., and we were there to cover the event.
Dr. Ian Smith speaks with Toni Clark of AOL’s Black Voices.

We don’t typically do product sessions, but for our friend Yvetta Rene Drayton, of The Sewing Diva, we made an exception. The only catch? She asked Joriana to model! After we twisted her arm, she had great fun with the pareo, hat, purse, knitted cell phone holder and — the coolest thing — a beach towel that’s a bag. Or is it a bag that’s a beach towel? Either way, it’s a really great idea and another one of those things that I wish I’d thought of! Soon Rene will be offering her Summer Session with lessons on how to make each one of these cool accessories that are must-haves for summer.

Professional Photographer | Ashburn VA| Best Photographer | Our day in Vegas!
Ashburn is near Sterling, Virginia near where our professional photographer studio is located. We love being the best photographer in Sterling.
Since we were catching the red eye out, we spent our last day in Vegas seeing some of the sites, eating some great food, and just generally having fun.
Joriana took these cool shots while we were doing what else? Shopping!
We checked out the inside and outside of MGM Grand and found that we loved the look inside and out.
In just a few steps, we went from New York…
To Venice…
To Paris!
But nothing beat seeing the Bellagio — that was a real treat!
But soon it was off to the airport — we couldn’t go to Vegas without bringing home some memories of these famous signs though — and testing out our D200 at 3400 +1vISO! Pretty good, huh?

Portrait Photography | Sterling VA | Best Family Photographer | DWF Convention in VEGAS!
In Sterling, Virginia Mindy and Joriana focus on Portrait Photography and to many have become the best family photographer!
Joriana and I hit the ground running last week for the annual Digital Wedding Forum Convention. One of the things we looked forward to was watching two awesome photographers, Alt F, alias John Michael Cooper, and David Beckstead shoot together in their fabulous desert shoot.
