Timing is a funny thing. You can’t choose when you find the love of your life. That moment picks you. And that’s exactly what happened with Lauren and Michael. It was their last year in high school. They had hung out. They were friends. But deep inside, each knew that they were more than that. All through high school, neither could push past the friend zone. But after graduation, that was a whole other story. Michael realized that he couldn’t let this one go. They started dating after high school and have been together ever since.
We’ve seen plenty of couples, but not too many have met after graduating from high school and stayed together through the ups and downs that life sometimes gives us.  This is one of the reasons we LOVE Lauren and Michael!  We cannot wait to photograph this gorgeous couple again on their wedding day!!! Meanwhile, enjoy the images that we were able to capture at their engagement session!

Autumn in Northern VA – Children Photo Ideas | Northern VA Family Photographer
At Ever After Portrait Studios, near Lowes Island, there is something for everyone in the family to do in a portrait session. Portrait photography is what we do!
The Rivera children laughed and played in our outdoor studio enjoying the autumn colors and crisp air.
The sisters, Kaylee and Felicity enjoyed a dress up tea party wearing beautiful pink and white dresses with matching floral hats. In this outdoor fun they act all grown up with a floral china tea set, sipping tea as they pose for their closeup images.
Meanwhile younger brother Hayden was all boy, decked out in his plaid shirt and jeans and heading to the pond to go fishing. After casting his pole in the water for the first time, he caught the BIG ONE and was all smiles as he proudly displayed his catch of the day!!!

“Mr. Gavin,” as we call him, had such a fun session with us. Babies at 8 months old are such a blast to photograph! Most of the time, they’re very smiley and happy. Gavin’s session was an excellent example of this. With his newfound ability to move around and make tons of cute new expressions, Gavin was a very fun little man to work with!

It was a chilly night.  With only the soft light from the bonfire that warmed the group of friends that had gathered. Brittny had come with her cousin.   As she walked up to the party … something caught her eye. Or should I say … someone. This was when Brittny first met Josh. They talked and both felt the spark they had. Numbers were exchanged.
Time passed.
One day Brittny was browsing Facebook when she noticed something … a new message from none other than Josh. As messages were exchanged and the relationship deepened, both knew that this wasn’t something that you find everyday. The two have been inseparable ever since!

Eric and Ashleigh first met on a cool February night in 2011. Ashleigh was at a Young Republican happy hour. Eric was in a bar league playing cornhole. Which, if you’ve never heard of it, is pretty much throwing sacks onto wooden boards with a hole in the middle. You have to play the sport in a bar, because it’s the kind of sport that would be impossible to enjoy without a drink.
As you might imagine with a game like cornhole where you’re idly throwing a sack at a hole every couple minutes, it leads to idle chatter. Between a cornhole round, Eric’s co-workers asked him to point out the prettiest girl in the bar, at which time he pointed to Ashleigh. They proceeded to tell him he had a type that looked like “Southern Young Republicans.” Eric assured them this idea was crazy, and that “there’s no such thing as a type that looks like Young Republicans.”
Eric’s friends then tried to get him to talk to Ashleigh, but not unlike a certain Lion in the Wizard of Oz, Eric was long on talk and short on courage. So, without Eric’s approval, his friend Anand approached Ashleigh and asked her if she’d talk to Eric.
After talking for over an hour, Eric wished Ashleigh a goodnight and asked her what brought her out to the Continental that night. She replied, “Oh, I was just at a Young Republicans happy hour.”
And so, Eric realized maybe he did have a type. And Ashleigh had spent so long talking to him that she almost had her car locked in a garage. 15 wonderful months later, they were engaged to be married and haven’t looked back since.

Jeff felt really fortunate to have such a good best friend. One that would find a place for him to stay. In a nice guest room in a close friend’s basement. As he settled in there, he noticed something else. Or rather, someone.
They watched movies together and played games. Acquaintance developed into friendship. Friendship develeoped into love.
Now that leads us to their engagement session! The two decided to build a gingerbread house and we think it looked absolutely delicious … take a look for yourself!
