Whether it’s the first-day-of-school snapshot, the mid-year or last day, parents often pose their child in front of their home, backpack and smiles on! We wanted to share with you a few quick tips to help make the best of those memories!
1. Pull your child away from the wall! Lining up against the wall for a snapshot isn’t always the best composition. Instead, try having your child step forward, away from the wall quite a bit. This helps put the focus more on the child, and the wall is not so much a part of the photo any more.
2. Shoot in the shade. Many people think to get a well-lit snapshot, their photos should be taken with the subject in the sunlight. But the sunlight can be very harsh, create deep shadows and make your subject squint too much. Instead, find a great patch of shade and have your subject stand there.
You’ll be amazed at how much better your snapshots are if you following these two little tips!

It is so much fun to get to know the all the personalities of the people who make up a family tree. This family had three generations which included parents, three children with their spouses and the first grandchild. The session was in our outdoor studio was so heartwarming to photograph. It was a treat to watch the family interact with Little Lyla the newest addition to the family. Karen enjoyed bonding with her niece and have images taken with her hubby, Oliver. It was an honor for us to photograph this beautiful family!

April, Pablo and Alejandro Almaraz came to visit our outdoor Sterling studio in the springtime for their portrait session. Little four year old Alejandro had a blast as he loves the great outdoors. One of his favorite activities is to play soccer.
The Almaraz family enjoys spending time together. Father and son share a passion for cars. They wanted to have images of special moments to document their family tree and be able to share this time with their family and friends. April especially wanted her son in the years to come to be able to look back with fond remembrance of how much his family loves him.

Summer in Northern VA can be very hot and humid but with the shade of our gorgeous trees and cool breeze at our outdoor studio a family can have tons of fun during a portrait session.
Temesha and Mke came with their girls, Camryn and Ileia in the early part of July. At this time, Mike and Temesha were engaged and were getting ready to start a life together as one big happy family. The girls had a great time laughing on the swings and sitting in the grass blowing bubbles. The family enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels and strolled over the bridge and relaxing at the refreshing pond.
